Ryan Kirchoff, director of curriculum and instruction and English teacher at Divine Savior Academy was recently named a University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award
Winner.
For 30, the University of Chicago has asked new students to nominate teachers who had a positive impact on them during their years in high school in order to identify and commend outstanding high school educators.
According to the University of Chicago website, Outstanding Educators “think carefully about their instruction. They share an infectious love for learning. They care about their students, both inside and outside the classroom.”
Kirchoff was nominated by Divine Savior 2019 alumni Carmelo De Grazia Parra. Kirchoff’s award letter included a personal note from De Grazia Parra thanking Kirchoff for teaching him how to write well and express his thoughts with purpose.
“You have truly changed my high school career and developed my passion for both writing and reading,” said De Grazia Parra.
