We invite you to celebrate the music, our beloved instrument guitar, and the Art in general in the upcoming edition of 2019 MIGF. We will present extraordinary artists in nine concerts, five masterclasses, four lectures, and a round-‐‑table composers panel as well as a composition competition. Featured artists will include Leonardo De Angelis and Emiliano Leonardi (Italy) performing music from the Mediterranean to the Tropics, Duo NIHZ with Bobby Rootveld and Sanna van Elst (The Netherlands/Germany), National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion Muriel Anderson (U.S.A.), bandoneon and guitar duo Kagan Korad and Tolga Salman (Turkey), flamenco guitarist Felipe Carvajal (Costa Rica/U.S.), Aysegül Koca, and violinist Cihat Askin (Turkey), as well as FIU Faculty artists Federico Bonacossa, Orlando Garcia, Jacob Sudol, David Dolata, and MIGF Artistic Director and Founder Mesut Özgen (Turkey/U.S.).
The festival concerts will open with Aksak Duo performing Turkish and Latin American music. The final day concerts will begin with Duo NIHZ in an amazingly entertaining program blending Jewish and classical music with a touch of comedy and the festival closes with a Flamenco Night featuring Felipe Carvajal and friends.
Master classes will be open to students of all ages and levels who will perform for the festival artists in front of a general audience. Lectures will be presented in a wide range of topics on guitar, lute, traditional Turkish music, and electronic music. The Luthiers Expo will be open to public from February 23-‐‑24, presenting excellent hand-‐‑built guitars by renowned guitar makers.
