Rita’s, a name known throughout the United States for its famous Italian ice and custards, celebrated the opening of its newest South Florida location at 6782 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach on January 12.
Hundreds of residents came out to join in the festivities, featuring a ribbon cutting with Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber, Commissioners Micky Steinberg and Steven Meiner, as well as Jerry Libbin and Robin Jacobs from the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. Guests enjoyed live music from the Lotus Jazz Quartet and Cecilia Leon’s Band, part of the Miami Beach Senior High Rock Ensemble, along with non-stop family fun including face painting and balloon art.
“Anyone who grew up in the Northeast knows of Rita’s delicious Italian ice, premium custard, milkshakes, cookie sandwiches, and custard cakes,” said Matias Cammarota, owner of Rita’s Miami. “We’re excited to bring these treats to Miami Beach.”
Unlike snow cones and slushies, Italian ice is a sweetened frozen dessert made with fruit and without dairy or egg products. With nearly 40 Italian ice flavors made fresh daily, some of the favorites include mango, cherry and even cotton candy. Rita’s also offers more than a dozen other products, such as sugar-free Italian ice, custards, gelatis, milkshakes, Mistos, and even pet-friendly frozen treats. It is the only national franchise serving Italian ice and scooped frozen custard.
In addition to Rita’s storefront, they have catering options that are great for any occasion including Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, birthdays and family events.
Rita’s will continue its South Florida expansion with a new location opening in Hialeah later this month followed by a beachfront location in Hollywood.
