Guests gathered on June 23 at Villa Valencia’s (ulta-luxe condominium in Coral Gables) sales gallery to attend the “More than Myth – Evidence-based Wellness Real Estate” event with panelists Jonathan Burgess, Teba Orueta and Marcia Martinez Laas.

Moderated by Location Ventures CMO Joanna Davila, the discussion focused on the definition of wellness real estate and how it has evolved to become a crucial component in one’s home. Pre-panel drinks were served in addition to a post-panel reception where bites and additional drinks were offered.

Some background on the panelists:
Jan Vitrofsky is founder of HEDsouth, a company that provides clients with carefully planned solutions that encompass entertainment, health and wellness, lighting, shades and smart home control throughout Florida and California. He had a last-minute emergency and couldn’t be in attendance, so his communications representative, Marcia Martinez Laas, principal of Power Collective, spoke in his place.

Jonathan Burgess is president of The Spinnaker Group, and a WELL Accredited Professional and the region’s leading (and first) Well Building Standard specialist.

Teba Orueta is director of DeNatura Wellness, a team of highly trained and specialized wellness professionals with a common goal to help promote the profound and life-changing benefits of mind-body wellness in the comfort and convenience of your office or home, so you can feel better, work smarter and live happier.

Some key takeaways from the discussion were:
Health is the balance of physical state and mental well-being;
Well-being is the perception of how healthy you are, and
Wellness is the proactive and preventative measures that positively impact health and well-being.
