Volunteers make a big impact during 'Keep Homestead Beautiful' cleanup
Dozens of volunteers take to the streets of the Historic Downtown District and Southwest area to clean up litter and garbage.

The City of Homestead’s Code Compliance Division and Community Policing Unit recently organized a massive community cleanup as part of the ongoing “Keep Homestead Beautiful” initiative.

Dozens of volunteers took to the streets of the Historic Downtown District and Southwest area to clean up litter and garbage. The cleanup effort included community church groups, City of Homestead staff and city council that combed the streets for hours. The volunteers picked up over 150 bags full of trash, litter and debris.

The cleanup is part of the ongoing campaign to Keep Homestead Beautiful, which is a conservation and beautification initiative that encourages residents and visitors to take care of the community by picking up litter, cleaning graffiti, recycling, and planting native trees and plants. Whether residents organize a cleanup, help an elderly neighbor with yardwork, follow the city’s posted solid waste pickup schedule, or report illegal dumping, every little bit helps to Keep Homestead Beautiful!
