This Valentine’s Day, Run Wild with the ones you love, and help raise funds and awareness to empower the area’s homeless men, women and children.
Join thousands of individuals, families and teams in running, walking, strolling and meandering through the animal kingdoms of Zoo Miami for a fun event that benefits all of Miami-Dade County.
All proceeds from the annual Run Wild 5K Run/Walk event, sponsored by Chapman Partnership for the fourth consecutive year, are donated to self-sufficiency programs to assist those without homes to find safe housing and build a more positive future.
“The Run Wild 5K Run/Walk is a fun family event that engages the community to support Chapman Partnership in its mission to empower the homeless in our community to lead independent lives,” said Alec Rosen, marketing manager for Chapman Partnership.
“Since 1995 Chapman Partnership has had more than 100,000 admissions and has achieved a 64 percent success rate in transitioning the homeless to housing solutions.”
Chapman’s comprehensive support program and resources include emergency housing, meals, health, dental and psychiatric care, daycare, job training and placement.
To continue the positive trend of helping the homeless, Chapman Partnership invites everyone in Miami-Dade Country, from infants to octogenarians, to participate. Registration fees — which include an event T-shirt and participation medal plus food, drinks and entertainment at the postrace festival — are $30 for adults and $20 for students in advance, $35 for adults and $20 for students on-site. All participants will receive a Run Wild wristband that entitles the wearer to complimentary entry into Zoo Miami for the full day. There is no fee for children age 2 or younger.
On-site registration begins at 7 a.m., with the race starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14. Family festival activities begin at 8 a.m. and extend through 10:30 a.m.
