Celebration welcomes community to newly remodeled Walmart store
Ribbon cutting celebrates remodeling of Walmart store at 6991 SW Eighth St. in Miami.

Walmart recently hosted a celebration to welcome the community to the newly remodeled Walmart store located at 6991 SW Eighth St. in Miami.

This significant renovation of its first store in the City of Miami reflects Walmart’s broader strategy of enhancing customer experiences through modernized facilities and innovative services, further solidifying its commitment to the region.

The store’s grand reopening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony which featured a lively celebration that captured the essence of Calle Ocho’s vibrant spirit. Event highlights included live radio remote by Radio Mambi; guest appearance by Billy the Marlins, the mascot of the Miami Marlins, and giveaways/samples from 20 vendors.

Several Miami city officials attended the event, in addition to the City of Miami Police and Fire Rescue. The team issued five grants to local organizations including Miami Children’s Health, Sundari Foundation, and Brooklyn Baseball Academy.

Key upgrades to the store have been thoughtfully designed to align with the needs of the community, ensuring a more efficient and convenient shopping experience. The newly remodeled store now includes a health services room and features pharmacy upgrades like same-day pharmacy delivery, enhancing accessible healthcare solutions and ensuring seniors can access prescriptions quickly and conveniently.

The store also features a Frontend Transformation (FET) with the addition of eight new self-checkouts, streamlining checkout processes to save customers’ time. The online pickup and delivery area has also been expanded, making the store capable of delivering over 3,000 orders weekly to meet the rising demand for the online services. Additional enhancements include a new grab-and-go area, upgraded Walmart radio speakers, a modernized breakroom, and rebranded customer service areas.

The renovated neighborhood market now features a vibrant new mural titled Calle Ocho by Florida-based muralist Eduardo Mendieta, capturing the essence of Miami’s Little Havana, celebrating Hispanic, Latin American, and Caribbean cultures amidst colorful rooster sculptures and lively festivities.
