Pet Supplies Plus has opened a new location at 7318 SW 117 Ave. in Kendall to offer pet parents a hassle-free shopping experience with a wide selection of pet products at the best price guaranteed.

Pet Supplies Plus focuses on providing a unique in-store experience for all of its new “neighbors” (the term Pet Supplies Plus uses for customer). The new store is owned by local entrepreneur Rick Thorton. Thorton, a lifelong refrigeration contractor, has transitioned into the pet industry after retiring from many successful years of growing his family business.
Inspired by his daughter’s three dogs and his own two pets, a Pomeranian and a Border Collie, Thorton decided to pursue his passion for animals.
As a community partner, Thorton will work alongside local animal shelters, rescue organizations and non-profits to host year-round adoption events, fundraisers, pet food and product drives.
“I’ve learned a lot about running a business from my years as a refrigeration contractor, and I can’t wait to apply all that knowledge to this next chapter of my life,” Thorton said. “I love animals and am excited to bring such a great neighborhood pet shop to an already amazing community.”
To welcome the community to the new Pet Supplies Plus location, Thorton recently hosted a weekend-long grand opening event with four-time rewards points available on all purchases, special prize giveaways, huge discounts and more. The free Pet Supplies Plus Rewards program allows members to receive regular coupons on products they frequently purchase, monthly specials and free products on select brands. Rewards points also can be redeemed for free grooming and pet washes, members only sales and other personalized offers.
At Pet Supplies Plus, neighbors are encouraged to bring their leashed pets in-store, where knowledgeable and caring team members are on-site to answer any questions or offer tips.
The experienced in-store team is trained extensively in the areas of natural and holistic foods and can answer a broad range of questions about dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and fish.
