Many parents look forward to the month of August because their children go back to school, but August is also a good time for local year-round residents to spend some time exploring the City of Miami Beach like a visitor or tourist. Overlapping in August is Miami Spice Month, Miami Spa Month and Miami Hotel Month, these programs give residents a chance to take advantage of opportunities to try something new in our city.
Coordinated by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau in collaboration with hotels, properties and restaurants, August is a time to expand your palate during lunch or dinner and try new restaurants or go back to visit old favorites with an ever-growing list of participating restaurants. Or instead, pair a signature dinning experience with a night out with friends to catch up. Part of the draw with Miami Spice is that there is usually a menu that fits your taste, but take the chance to be bold and try something different before the program ends September 30th.
Similarly, Miami Hotel Month which runs through September 30th offers local residents the chance to relax and explore world class accommodations at enticing prices. Part of the appeal of Hotel Month is the ability to change your perspective for a day or weekend by seeing Miami Beach as a tourist. Staying at one of the boutique hotel properties in an area you don’t usually frequent, take a relaxing early morning walk on the beach or go to a sunrise beach yoga class.
Self-care is also available for residents by taking advantage of Spa Month which only runs till the end of August. Many of our world renowned venues are offering a variety of wellness activities in addition to massages. As many people know, I am not a fan of massages although I recognize the benefits that other people enjoy from an afternoon of pampering. But the chance to destress in a warm inviting space does hold attraction, especially since many of the participating spas are in areas that are a short walk away from spectacular culinary offerings.)
Finally, I ‘d like to recognize the Miami Beach Chamber Women’s Business Council for their hard work and effort as they prepare for the 3rd Annual City National Bank Baddass Women of the Year Awards at the end of the summer. This event is essential because it shows that we are committed to promoting equality in the workplace. Recognizing successful women in leadership positions provides role models for aspiring female employees and encourages mentorship opportunities. It sends a message that women can advance in their careers and achieve leadership roles within their organizations.
