Palmer Trinity School Coach Mark Reese Leads Football Team to Victory in Battle of the Oar

Palmer Trinity School Falcons face off against Ransom Everglades Raiders for 2018-2019 Battle of the Oars

On Friday, September 14, Palmer Trinity School’s (PTS) varsity football team won its annual Battle of the Oar game against long-time rival Ransom Everglades. This was the first time in 15 yearsthat the PTS Falcons reclaimed the prized oar, doing so at home with a score of 18-6.

Since 1974, Palmer Trinity and Ransom Everglades’ high school varsity football teams have played for the honor of taking home the coveted trophy boat oar painted in the colors of both schools. The paddle is marked with more than 30 years of wins and losses between the two schools.

As this year’s winners, the Falcons have the honor of housing the trophy oar for the 2018-2019 academic year.

“We want to congratulate our hardworking athletes and Coach Reese for a well-deserved win at this year’s Battle of the Oar! The professional level of training and team work were evident and we look forward to the rest of this promising season,” stated Patrick Roberts, Head of School.

In addition to Friday’s momentous win under the direction of PTS head football coach, Mark Reese, Palmer Trinity School’s team is enjoying an impressive 4-0 start this season. Reese came on as head football coach in the fall of 2016.
