Dr. Tyler Kalbac has joined Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center of Miami where he will perform general orthopaedic surgery and specialize in foot and ankle operations.
The practice is located at 6701 Sunset Drive, Suite 201 in South Miami and has been in business for more than 50 years.
“I’m very proud to return home and join Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center of Miami as a third-generation orthopaedic surgeon,” says Dr. Kalbac. “My grandfather founded the practice, and I will be joining my father, Dr. Daniel Kalbac, to improve the lives of patients through advanced surgical techniques.”
Dr. Kalbac received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and earned his medical degree from Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Kentucky, where he gained extensive experience in treating a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, including sports injuries, degenerative diseases and trauma of the entire musculoskeletal system.
Following his residency, Dr. Kalbac completed the OrthoCarolina Foot & Ankle Fellowship in Charlotte, N.C. There he learned to manage complex foot and ankle pathologies with leaders in the field of orthopaedic surgery.
“My primary focus is care of the lower extremity including fractures, sports injuries, joint replacement, foot and ankle reconstruction, bunions, toe deformity, flatfoot correction, Achilles tendinopathy, arthritis and Charcot arthropathy.”
Dr. Kalbac is the co-team physician for Palmer Trinity School in Palmetto Bay and he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society. He and his wife Jenni have a two year-old daughter named Maddie.
His interests include triathlon, kayaking, rock climbing, ocean free-diving and spearfishing.
