Following its sold-out premiere and overwhelmingly enthusiastic response, the Deering Estate is proud to present an encore holiday performance of Imagining the Soundtrack of Charles Deering’s World, created and performed by Artist-in-Residence, Susana Behar.

This special program returns by popular demand after audiences praised its evocative blend of music, culture, and history. Set against the backdrop of the Estate’s 2025 holiday theme, “The Golden Age of Travel,” the program re-imagines the soundscape Charles Deering might have encountered during his extensive travels across Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Americas in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Behar weaves together musical traditions, languages, and stories that echo the cosmopolitan world Deering explored, offering audiences an immersive journey through time and place.

Through exquisite vocal interpretations and carefully curated musical selections, the performance illuminates the cultural richness of the regions that shaped Deering’s artistic vision – creating a sensory experience that is both historically inspired and deeply personal.

The concert, “Imagining the Soundtrack of Charles Deering’s World,” invites visitors to travel alongside Deering through sound, discovering the connections between his global wanderings and the music of the peoples he encountered.

Featuring: Susana Behar (voice), Michel Gonzalez (guitar), Adolfo Herrera (percussion), Magela Herrera (flute and back-up vocals) and Elvis Martinez (bass).
