Ultherapy that utilizes ultrasound technology is now offered by us — Dr. Jeffrey Epstein and Dr. Anthony Bared — at The Foundation for Hair Restoration and Plastic Surgery, located in South Miami at 6280 Sunset Drive.
The procedure combines ultrasound and the body’s natural healing process to lift and tighten loose skin on the eyebrow, neck, décolleté and under the chin, the only FDA-approved treatment for a non-surgical lift of those facial and chest areas.
Ultherapy deposits focus ultrasound energy on deep structural support layers of the skin without disturbing its surface. That causes tissue to contract while stimulating collagen beneath skin tissue. Although facial plastic surgery is our specialty, we’ve introduced this treatment because it is proving to be very successful for patients who are not quite ready for a surgical procedure. How its application will play an important role is best determined by experienced facial plastic surgeons who will evaluate its potential success to other non-invasive procedures.
A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone in their 40s or 50s whose skin has relaxed, making it appear and feel less firm. The procedure is a good option for young adults wanting to combat signs of aging. Ultherapy is also an excellent technique to help tighten the skin of patients who have previously had a facelift or brow lift and seek some tightening now that time has passed. No cutting or surgical recovery is required while a subtle to moderate improvement occurs.
As a non-invasive procedure, Ultherapy does not require sedation and takes 90 minutes to two hours for treatment of all facial areas. No downtime is needed, with patients able to return to normal activity immediately after the treatment. Tightening and uplifting of lax skin will occur over the course of three months, with improvements continuing for up to six months. While it’s important to note that Ultherapy does not deliver surgical results, it provides results that meet the goals and expectations of many of our patients.
For the best results, we recommend that certain patients partner Ultherapy with other procedures that treat the skin and face at different depths. Laser treatments, for example, address issues in the superficial layers of the skin like fine lines, wrinkles and sun spots. Fillers, such as Sculptra or Voluma for deeper layers, can provide more youthful appearance. In the hands of experienced surgeons, all of these treatments have proved excellent in treating the aging face at different levels.
Over the past 20 years, patients from all 50 states in the U.S. and more than 80 countries have traveled to South Miami for treatment at the Foundation.
