Two exciting new shops will be opening in SoMi in the fall. First National Bank of South Miami has recently signed agreements with POP’s Ice Creamery and Aurum Collections to occupy their two retail spaces.
POP’s Ice Creamery, headquartered in Costa Rica, will be opening in the space previously occupied by Granny Kay. The family owned and operated ice cream business has been in operation for 42 years and has more than 130 locations in Central and South America.
POP’s offers a variety of products, including traditional milk shakes, banana splits, and sundaes and has around 30 flavors on their menu.
“The spirit of this young community made this the perfect place for us to offer our premium products for the first time in the U.S.,” said Roberto Abreu of POP’s Ice Creamery.
“We are so excited that after a year of searching for just the right place to start their U.S. operations, they have chosen to open their first location in South Miami, right next to our bank,” said Veronica Birch Flores, executive vice president of FNBSM. “Roberto will be a great asset to our downtown area.”
Also opening in late September will be Aurum Collections, owned by Mercy Garcia and affiliated with Miami Mumbai. The boutique will feature collections of jewelry, fashion accessories and art for the home, many of which are hand-made in India, the Mediterranean and other exotic places.
“We will carry the world-renowned jewelry line from Greece, Konstantino, and we are the only independent store in the area to offer these unique designs,” said Garcia.
“I had a chance to visit Mercy’s current wholesale showroom and the products are breathtaking,” commented Ms. Flores. “Mercy is a dynamo and will also be a great addition to our community.”
Ms. Flores concluded, “I am so delighted to be able to welcome such quality retailers and smart business people to the South Miami community!”
