Parking resrrctons in place
The City of Sunny Isles Beach will begin the 174th Street Improvement Project in mid-July. The project, which includes a new drainage system, sidewalks, gutters, pavement and landscaping, will be divided into five phases to minimize impact on vehicular and pedestrian traffic. During each phase, no parking will be permitted in the construction area, which includes the detour area.
Residents displaying a Resident Parking Permit are permitted to park in any Residential Parking spaces between 174th and 178th Street and in the non-construction or nondetour areas of 174th Street. Phase One will begin on North Bay Road south of Northeast 174 Street and extend on the eastbound lanes of 174 Street just past Winston Towers 300.
Phase One is estimated to last from July through September, 2015. Phase Two will continue on the eastbound lanes of 174 Street to Collins Avenue.
Phase Two is estimated to run from September through October, 2015.
Phase Three will involve the west bound lanes of 174 Street from North Bay Road along the full frontage of Winston Towers 400. Phase three is estimated to run from early November through December 2015. Phase Four will continue in the westbound lanes from the eastern end of Winston Towers 400 to Collins Avenue.
Phase Four is estimated to run from December through February 2016. Phase Five will involve both the east bound and west bound lanes of 174 Street along the full length of the roadway, from west of North Bay Road to Collins Ave.
Phase Five is estimated to begin in February and run through April 2016.
Vehicular traffic will be rerouted at times allowing for one lane in each direction, east and west. 174 Street will be open to local traffic only during this process. Residents are encouraged to use North Bay Road by way of 178 or 183 Streets to access Collins Avenue.
