On September 19, 2012 at the City Commission meeting, the Mayor and Commission members presented ceremonial checks to scholarship award recipients: Jamon Simmons- Davenport, currently attending Florida International University, and Ashley Henderson, currently attending Florida Memorial University. Both students are residents of the City and were each recommended by the Education Advisory Committee for a $500.00 West Park College Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year.
