On Saturday, July 28, the City of West Park partnered with Gigi the Planner to offer the Future Black Planners of America Workshop. The event was a tutorial on the basics of urban planning for high school students in a workshop format. The workshop was designed to teach approximately thirty-five (35) high school students on what urban planning is. The program consisted of a day of free peer mentoring and educational assistance with a volunteer team of urban planning professionals that shared their industry knowledge in fun and engaging format in an effort to educate and possibly spark an interest in that field of study. The young students who participated in this program are better advised on planning as a possible career choice.
