Of the numerous life lessons parents try to teach youngsters, brushing your teeth after every meal, or at least twice a day, is as solid a lesson as they come — for health and financial reasons.
What could be worse than being unemployed and without insurance, and suddenly encountering a problem with your teeth? Dr. RickMars, Dr. Joel Glicksman and Dr. Coussa understand that dilemma.
For the second year, The Dental Care Group and Aventura Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics provided free cleanings and other services during their ‘Dentistry From Our Hearts’ promotion on February 24th.
With the help of their associates Dr. Aicel Carbonero, Dr. Borasmy Ung, Dr. Baokhoi Bui, Dr. David Koslovsky, Dr. Dalia Rosenfeld, Dr. Craig Winer, Dr. Daniella Modesto, Dr. Francisco Garcia, Dr. Ari Socher, their hygienists and entire clinical and administrative teams in Aventura and Pembroke Pines,
Dr. Mars, Dr. Glicksman and Dr. Coussa were able to help those in hard times keep their teeth in good shape.
“There was a family who came in with four kids,” said Dr. Rosenfeld. “The parents had lost their jobs but they still wanted to care for their kids. To be able to help those kids feels good for the parents, the kids and for me.”
With the help of Power 96 and Miss Florida, Michelle Aguirre, they were able to get the word out and treat 400 adults and children at both their Aventura and Pembroke Pines offices. Services included exams, fillings, extractions, x-rays, cleanings and emergency care. Over $150,000 in free dental care was donated for this ‘Dentistry From Our Hearts’ community event.
Dr. Coussa spoke about the free services day and said “it makes for a busy day, but every team member enjoys it because they realize it is a valuable service to offer during difficult economic times. It is also our way of giving back to the community. ”
“This was an incredible day,” said Dr. Mars. “It was a coming together of our team, volunteers and generous corporate partners. This sort of outreach comes complete with improved smiles, relief from suffering and a warm sense of gratitude that pervades. The services provided during ‘Dentistry From Our Hearts’ not only help a patient’s teeth and overall health, it gives them a renewed reason to smile.”

Every February, Dr. Mars, Dr. Glicksman and Dr. Coussa plan on organizing this event, calling the free dental care offer a Valentine’s Day present for those in need.
