At The Footlighters Club of So. Florida’s recent luncheon held in the beautiful Temple Solel in Hollywood, Fl., the internationally-recognized singing group, THE DIAMONDS, rocked the full house with one fabulous song after another. After a delicious lunch , dancing to the music of the Mark Friedman Orchestra, Marilyn Monroe (aka Camile Terry) sang “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” as the intro for the star performers about to come onstage. Stars were in the audience as well, including superstar Little Anthony, from Little Anthony and The Imperials, the 1950s rhythm and blues group.
THE DIAMONDS, consisting of Gary Owens, Jeff Dolan, Julian McCleary and Dan Vissers and their drummer David Drubin, had the entire room applauding, dancing and cheering for their incredible performance full of cover songs from artists such as Elvis, Jersey Boys and ABBA and their own worldwide hits, including “Little Darlin’ “ (dubbed the “National Anthem of Rock and Roll); , “The Stroll”and “Silhouettes”. Audience member Marge Rosenblatt said, “My hands were red from clapping so much—what a spectacular show!!”
A silent auction and spontaneous donations from appreciative members and guests helped fund the Footlighters Foundation that raises funds for indigent entertainers suffering from illness or financial hardship.
